Brunswick School Takes Early Lead in NECA Grand Prix
Brunswick School’s eight players took first place in The National Educational Chess Association’s 2016 season opener February 7th in Stamford, narrowly edging out South School’s 16 players. The tournament was the first tournament in a year-long series to determine the strongest school, as well as highlighting individual prowess. It also featured the annual Stamford Scholastic Chess Championships, with the highest Stamford finisher in each division earning recognition.
The National Educational Chess Association announced today its 2015 Scholastic Chess Player of the Year, Vikram Sarkar of Saint Cecilia School in Stamford, Connecticut.
Greenville Elementary wins NECA 27
The team from Scarsdale, New York’s Greenville Elementary topped the standings at the National Educational Chess Association’s 27th tournament, held at King school in Stamford, Connecticut. New Canaan’s South School came in second followed by Darien’s Hindley and Ox Ridge teams.
